Haemoglobin level is a useful test as part of a general health screen. It helps to diagnose conditions that may affect the level of the red blood cells in the body, such as anaemia (low level) or polycythaemia (high level).
Subsequently it is also used to monitor the response to treatment of these various conditions.
This test measures the total cholesterol, lipid carrying proteins and triglycerides in the blood. Used to screen for risk of developing heart disease (Cardiovascular risk) and to monitor effectiveness of cholesterol lowering therapy or dietary interventions.
